Support Groups

Your Center for Wellbeing

The Center for Wellbeing at JFS is the first stop on your road toward wellness, providing the highest level of care to the Greenwich community and beyond. High quality psychotherapy services are available to you, conveniently close to home.

Our mission is to ensure your comfort and peace of mind from the moment you enter a therapeutic space that’s small and secure, comfortable and private, compliant with all HIPAA requirements. All are welcome to receive quality mental health services and emotional support. Major insurance plans now accepted, as detailed below.

JFS Support Groups can help! It makes a difference to speak with others who share similar challenges and can work together with you to find solutions. Each of our support groups is led by a licensed social worker with significant experience in facilitating support groups. We offer groups for adults, families, teens and children. Don’t deal with life’s difficulties on your own; we are here for you.

Grief and Loss

Many people struggle with feelings of sadness and loss following the death of a loved one.

If you have recently lost a family member, spouse or companion, the JFS Grief and loss group can help. At JFS, we recognize that each individual experiences grief differently. We discuss how to cope with your feelings and help you to begin the process of healing. You will gain comfort from the community; support from psychological insight; coping strategies from shared experience; and friendship from others who are dealing with their own losses.

Stress Less

Mindfully reduce your anxiety!

Often our days move at a faster pace than we would like. Ever increasing stressors
from the media, family and life obligations contribute to feelings of constant unease.  Find common ground and evidence based coping skills with like minded individuals in search of inner peace.  Led by mindfulness expert, Ruthanne Birnbaum, LCSW.

Fractured Families and Mindful Healing

This group is designed to give participants an opportunity to talk about strained family relationships – whether it is with a parent, a sibling, a grandparent, a son or a daughter. These relationships, when stressed or tense, are so painful to endure because family means so much to us. If you cut the ties, or someone in your family has cut you off – this group will help you explore your issues of grief, anger, regret and forgiveness in a safe environment with other people who understand.

Picking up the Pieces/After the Divorce

This group will focus on beginning again!

Often a divorced person has spent months or even years in ambivalence about ending a marriage. Now that the and practical details of separating are complete, there is the emotional work to do. Now it is time to develop a new identity, and a new beginning. This group will provide a confidential space for one to reflect on the life they are living and the life they would like to live. It will be an opportunity to grow, develop and learn from others! Women and men are welcome.

Wednesday evenings:  6-7pm
Facilitator:   Angela Hay, LCSW
