Social Services

Assisting seniors and adults with disabilities, providing door-through-door transportation to non-emergency medical appointments.

Serving Greenwich and Stamford

How this volunteer based program works:

Volunteers assist clients in getting ready for an appointment, ensuring they have all of the necessary items for the trip. Clients are then safely walked to the car and assisted into the vehicle.

At the appointment, the volunteer assists the client into the office and helps with the check-in process. The client has the option of inviting the volunteer into the appointment or have them remain in the waiting room.

After the appointment, the volunteer accompanies the client back to their home and safely inside. Volunteers can also contact the senior’s “trusted adult” to let them know the appointment is complete and to relay any necessary follow up instructions.

Appointments Can Include:

  • Dialysis

  • Chemotherapy

  • Dental Appointments

  • Outpatient Surgical Procedures

  • Mental Health & Wellness

  • Fitness & Nutrition

Woman Pushing a Supermarket Cart

Since 1986, JFS has been providing a unique grocery shopping service for Greenwich residents, over age 60, who are unable to shop for themselves. This non-denominational service is provided to home-bound seniors, helping them to remain as independent as possible. If you, a family member, or someone you know, is in need of this service, please contact Nyisha Vaughn who will connect you with a well-trained and thoughtful volunteer to assist you.
