Older Adult Services

At JFS of Greenwich, we provide essential services to older adults and individuals with disabilities to help them live independently and stay connected to their community. Our programs are designed to meet the unique needs of seniors, offering support that helps them maintain their health, well-being, and quality of life. In 2024, we provided 2,023 services to older adults, enabling them to live comfortably and confidently at home.

Compassionate Companions

Launched in 1986, Supermarketing for Seniors is the longest-running program at JFS of Greenwich, dedicated to offering personalized grocery shopping services with a focus on care and compassion. This program supports homebound seniors with limited resources by providing a dedicated shopper who not only purchases and delivers groceries but also offers vital social interaction and wellness check-ins for those who might otherwise face isolation. By providing these essential services, we help seniors, all of whom reside in Greenwich, maintain their independence and remain in the comfort of their own homes for much longer than would otherwise be possible.

In 2024 JFS added the Compassionate Companions Program to our Older Adult Services. For many seniors and individuals with disabilities, traveling to medical appointments on their own can be an overwhelming and stressful task. JFS’ Compassionate Companions matches seniors and individuals with disabilities with volunteers who provide both social and emotional support during transportation to and from medical appointments. This ensures a safe, comfortable, and pleasant experience for all involved. JFS-G covers all transportation costs for both the participants and volunteers.

If you are an older adult in need of these services, or would like to volunteer to help, please reach out to Daniela Valdovinos for assistance.
