Cynthia Newman is currently a graduate student at Long Island University, in the Master of Science, Mental Health Counseling program. She will be doing her clinical hours with JFS Greenwich as an intern. Cynthia previously earned her bachelor degree at SUNY, Purchase with a major in Liberal Studies, and a minor in Psychology. While at Purchase she served as a Peer Advisor to college students and was valued as a skilled, compassionate and nonjudgemental advisor. She is currently a Mentor through the Mentorship Program at The Align Center in Irvington, NY.
Cynthia has had career in Fine Arts, Design and Education and is now completing her dream of helping others as a therapist. Cynthia’s life experiences have fostered in her a resilience and the intention to thrive and she is passionate to pass on these skills to others by supporting them on their life path.
Cynthia practices mindfulness and yoga, is a Mandated Reporter and has participated in Continuing Education workshops in the Mental Health field in areas of trauma, somatic experiencing and positive psychology.
Cynthia is excited to be at JFS and is looking forward to supporting others through their challenging life issues as well as helping to facilitate their personal growth.
